Summer Camp Information ] ]
Posted: chappotin @ 23 January 2008 9:12am

Please be aware that information for both summer camps will be placed in your scout’s mailbox Tuesday, January 29th.  Please be aware that the initial deposit and merit badge selections are due to me by Tuesday, February 19th, with final payment due on May 6th.  Please make sure that your scout brings home this important information to you.  Both camps are first come, first serve for merit badges and you can’t be guaranteed a spot without turning in this paperwork by the deadline.

Please contact me at chappotin@cfl.rr.com or 752-7819 if you have any questions.  Please note that I will be unable to attend the Boy Scout meeting on February 5th.  If you are returning your selection and check, please place it in the front folder of the scout mailbox.  That folder is labeled Melissa Chappotin, Treasurer.

Welcome to a New Year of Scouting ] ]
Posted: chappotin @ 12 September 2007 7:59am

Dear Scouting Families,

Welcome back to an exciting year with Troop 224!  The troop leadership has been at work over the summer preparing for this new season of camping trips and weekly troop meetings.  The boys will have a fun-filled year ahead of them.

As a reminder to our returning families and a “FYI” to our new families, there are minimal financial requirements for each scout to meet to be eligible for camping trips, advancements, summer camp, etc.

- Monthly dues are $5 for the months of September through May.  Dues must be paid by the 2nd Tuesday of each month.  You may, however, pay the full $45 in advance.  Dues are payable regardless of monthly participation.

- Popcorn participation is mandatory.  This is our largest fundraiser to support the scouts.  By selling $100 worth of popcorn, the scout will meet his obligation for popcorn participation.  You may opt out of popcorn sales by paying $35 by October 9th, 2007All popcorn orders must be turned in by October 9th.  We will be unable to place "late orders" for popcorn.

- Yearly registration for returning scouts is $30.00 payable by October 23rd, 2007.

A letter was mailed to each scouting family that had a negative balance at the end of last year.  All negative balances must be taken care of before your scout can participate in camping or be re-registered with the troop for the upcoming year.  In addition, scouts will be unable to attend camping trips if their account has a negative balance during the scouting year.

All checks should be made payable to Troop 224.  Please make sure your scout’s name is written on the memo line along with what the check is for.  Receipts will be provided for cash payment.  Check payments may be placed in the “mailbox” with my name.  I will be present at the 2nd and 4th troop meetings of every month, as well as the troop meeting the week of a camping trip.

Please contact me if you have any questions regarding your balance.

Troop 224 Treasurer

August 25 Troop Beachside Picnic ] ]
Posted: Janet Haden-Baker @ 13 August 2007 8:19am

Hi Everyone,

Troop 224's "end-of-summer" get together will be on Saturday, August 25 from 4:00-7:00pm at Lori Wilson Park. The park is located at 1500 N Atlantic Avenue, Cocoa Beach (from SR-520, go south 1.4 miles on SR-A1A). We have the West Pavilion reserved. This park has natural maritime hammock and 1,000’ boardwalk with 6 dune crossovers to the beach. The park also has volleyball court, playground, open grassy area, nearby surf fishing, restrooms, outdoor showers, and drinking fountains.

This is a social outing for Troop members and their families so siblings are welcome. We already have 9 families who've RSVP'd that they will attend.

Please let me know if your scout will attend (and with how many total attending) so that we can plan who'll bring which food and drink items.

Thanks,

Janet Haden-Baker, Troop 224 Outings Coordinator

Posted: Janet Haden-Baker @ 16 July 2007 5:51pm

Several families are planning to attend the Troop summertime get together at the Lane's home on Saturday, July 21, from 4:30-7:30pm. The Lanes have a pool, pond, and land to explore so bring your swim suits, fishing poles, and bikes, for an evening of fun. The menu is hamburgers and hot dogs and we ask each family to bring the item listed below:

Chappotin - 32 hamburger patties and drinks to share

Greene - 24 hot dogs, hamburger buns (32) and hot dog buns (32)

Najemnik - napkins, paper plates, paper cups, and plastic knives/forks for 25, drinks to share

Page - a side dish and a dessert for 25, drinks to share

Pirlo - a side dish and a dessert for 25, drinks to share

Talley - a side dish and a dessert for 25, drinks to share

Mayers - chips for all and drinks to share

Hartford - package of hot dogs with buns, extra paper products, and possibly a dessert

Hoskin - 10-12 hamburger patties with buns, side dish, and drinks (2 liters)

Lane - supplying the locale and ketchup, mustard, pickles, etc. for the burgers and dogs

Others are welcome to join the party, but better bring food or there will not be enough for everyone.

An e-mail went out with the Lane's address and directions.  Please let me know if you did not receive this information.

Our thanks to the Lanes for inviting us to their home!
