Uniform

The class A uniform is the Scout shirt with all badges and insignia in the proper place. A Scout should always look his best and have his shirt on and tucked in. This is considered "Class A". The Class A uniform must be worn when traveling for scout events. As a general rule the Class A is worn during the school year for troop meetings. Optional items to make a full Class A uniform include Scout pants, Scout shorts, Scout belt and Scout socks.

The class B uniform is a Scouting-themed shirt or T-shirt. We normally allow Class B uniforms for troop meetings during the summer months.

A Troop 346 T-shirt is available and can be worn during the summer, PLC meetings and other troop events. Contact the Scoutmaster if you are interested in purchasing a troop t-shirt.

The troop does not have a troop neckerchief. The neckerchief is an optional part of the official uniform, which we chose not to have as part of our troop uniform. If a Scout attends a camp in which a neckerchief is received or purchased for the event, or is an Eagle scout and has an Eagle Scout neckerchief, he may wear the neckerchief. The neckerchief would typically be worn on ceremonious occasions and not to regular troop meetings.

Once a scout begins earning merit badges, he is encouraged to purchase a merit badge sash. The sash is worn for more formal activities such as Boards of Review and Courts of Honor. See the Scoutmaster if you have questions about placing merit badges on the sash.

All members should wear the proper footwear for the activity. Black soled shoes that leave marks should not be worn to troop meetings. Open toed shoes such as sandals are not proper footwear for any Scouting event. A good pair of hiking boots is preferred for campouts.
